This new season after soo many years is significantly worse, the character designs are straight up terrible and there is way too many recaps on stuff shown in season 1.

@dabdabgoose I agree with you! I decided to come here on the page because I thought it was just me who found this strange... the design is horrible and the story is completely strange.

I'd forgive it if the character designs didn't turn into complete shit. Holy moly they butchered everyone. Watching the ending and comparing it to the characters in the actual show you wouldn't even know they're from the same series. The series wasn't particularly amazing to begin with but this is doing it dirty. Even more dumbfounded they're still giving us so much 'what happened last season' exposition after the previous episode basically recapped last season.

First 2 eps are frigging flashback recaps ? The fuck ? I've seen season one like 7 months ago.
And somehow everyone looks off.
Shame, i was really stoked to find out season 2 was releasing so soon after I've seen S1.

yeah... yada yada yada... i cant watch through this shit.....
As someone who had season 1 really high in regards, this is a humongous slap in the face to anyone who liked this show.
It kinda in comparison is like the whole Joker 2 situation.
both seem to be ruined, just for the liking of 1 person/entity (the studio)

im dropping this pile of doodoo, enough of ACTUAL good shows to watch instead

This is an abomination. 2 episodes in and I already have my most disappointing anime of Fall 2024. This was the #1 anime this season I was looking forward to, and here we are two episodes in and I'm dropping it. The voice acting is horrible. The character designs are awful. They took designs that were edgy and sharp and turned them into whatever this cartoony trash is. Everyone involved in this should feel ashamed.

Maou-sama, Retry! R. the R stands for RECAPS!!!!
are they intentionally trying to piss the viewers off? 2 episodes in to a new season and you give us ANOTHER RECAP! WTF!?
i'm glad i wasn't the only one who thought the new designs made them look, fatter? they don't really look fatter just wider? which is just strange.
this animation is rough, and i thought Fruit of Evolution was bad, i think this is actually worse, i could actually stand Fruits but this is somehow feels even lazier.
i have to wonder why are they even making this at this point, is this an out of season April's Fool joke?

The original season, lets be honest, wasn't that great. It was fine, at best.

This "second season" sucks.

I'm here to reiterate the elephant in the room;

The character designs are straight up TRASH, they butchered our goated old designs... also these animations are scuffed as hell

This might be the worst visual downgrade of an anime I've ever seen.

On top of that, they've now taken two entire episodes just to recap the first season. Gekkou appears to be intentionally sabotaging this anime.

So the first 2 episodes are recaps. Preferably you'd have just the first episode be the recap, but with the added backstory stuff, it's fine. For a continuation that's 5 years later and for viewers who didn't just watch or rewatch season 1, I'm being lenient, especially since I literally saw season 2 was a thing on Saturday and just a bit ago watched episodes 1 and 2, so like hell I'll remember any more than the main beats, ending, and Yukikaze. Also, really like the neet guy, both in design and character. He's funny.

Next week looks to start the proper continuation, so we'll see how that goes. Despite the changes and quality dip, I am happy to see this story continue in anime, though not how we imagined it.

Still getting used to the new art style and character design changes. One of the comments here said that season 1's designs were a lot more unique and I agree. Take Killer Queen Maiden's hair, it was a distinct style for her character's personality, bold but still with some level of elegance. But now it's bangs and straight long hair. Is this more source accurate? If so, fair enough. Personally, I don't hate it since those types of bangs are really cute to me. But that said, seems like we're in a similar situation to Devil's A Part-Timer, where the current designs and style are more streamlined and have more emphasis on moe.

Also, compared Yukikaze from the end of this episode to season 1 episode 11. And not only is he so much more beautiful back then,*pardon my gushing*, like good God half of the reason I remember the series so well is because he's just that convincing of a trap, but also some elements of his outfit's changed. I don't know if it's the source accurate fit or maybe it's a change of clothes for the North climate, which I'm assuming could be cooler than the capital's. All I'm saying is I'm gonna miss those garters. Also, Mikan got a drastic debuff.

I think this season 2 is bad because this season was take from web manga....not light novel like season 1

This was never really good, but good enough to pass the time...

... thinking they need to recap the story all the effing time and failing to stay true to the character appearances is a deal breaker for me though.

The way these two initial episodes recap the first season really brings into focus just how little actually occurred in the first season.

I can't say that I care all that much for the all-around more cartoony nature of this second season: it feels like it undercuts what little stakes there are by making all the proceedings feel too kid-safe.

I even started the episode and I'm wondering if I should keep watching it. There's something about... They seem like those videos that are just "rehashing things" that already happened, it's kind of weird, I don't know. I liked the first season, but this one... I don't know. I think I'll stop for today and decide if I'll continue another day.

I watched both episodes 1 and 2.

In case you are wondering, I have not watched the first season and have been watching since the second season.

The problem is that the two episodes of the second season seem to be a summary and summary of the first season, but I watched it and didn't understand the storyline at all.
Also, the pacing of the story is too slow and there is very little excitement.
It was painful to watch and I had to watch it at double speed.

To whom is this summary a disservice?

The old-timers will not like it.
To newcomers, it doesn't make sense.

The animation also has many inconsistencies that raise many questions.

For example,
In episode 2, at 7 minutes and 48 seconds into the scene where the pink-haired woman says, “She's got the face of a female,
Where is she looking?
Also, the background was a door, but the door was left open, right?
Where is the camera work? The consistency of the cuts before and after is mangled.

Also, the scene where the main character is taking a bath, the background of the bath has changed quite a bit between episodes 1 and 2.
The trees have changed from hardwood to softwood.

Oh man yeah. I was totally confused who the second girl was at the start.
I mean i really dont mind her changing from her previous bikini armor, but its pretty strange that they did it without any reason...?

the previous design made the duo so hilarious - the well endowed but pretty prude/innocent women in bikini armor and the total horndog in "good girl" outfit trap that cant stop talking/thinkin about getting rekt by the protag

i did check the manga on comick though, she doesnt wear the bikini armor in the manga either at that point

After recently watching Season 1 having thought it sounded like a good anime to get into, I’m pretty disappointed with the new animation in Season 2, I hate the new character designs, especially for Killer Queen and the doctor woman, why are they so kind of chibified?! And even the other Holy Maiden’s character personalities seen entirely different from the end of Season 1.
I’ll keep at it since I want to see the rest of the story, but it feels like such a shame they went in this direction with it all 😟

I revived a long dead account just to have a place to vent my frustration. This is probably the worst overall downgrade I've seen in any medium. The visuals have made everyone uglier, and was such a huge change I had the same whiplash as the first time a comedy scene happened in Hellsing Ultimate after expecting more of the original. The score fornthe bgm and overall audio and voicing is worse except for the protagonist, and they've exaggerated the time between seasons by drawing out the recap of the original.

I feel it wouldn't be so insulting if I didn't rewatch the original before starting the new stuff. I tried, but I can't finish it. They killed all the things that made it unique and turned it into a poorly executed generic isekai.

The plot changes, the art style is bland(similar to the last season of HS DxD), no substance unlike season 1 had. It hurts to see a really decent first season of an anime get torn apart like this...

Even with what I've said since the first episode, I'm still rooting for this series' new achievements.

I really do love the manga this is based on, as well as the similarities of the first season of the anime with the manga "R".

On second thought, I might enjoy this sequel in a very different way. (but will hardly enjoy it because of the abominable character designs for this sequel, even the manga it's based on has hardly any evidence of the character designs of the said manga as the source)

When you think about it, some characters do have outfits in the past, like Mikan and the trap for example—which they made more okay in the sight and peace of mind of the viewers for this sequel. (still horrible character designs)

So we definitely have some heads up here and there. (but mostly 👎 👎 👎)

What's more, the theme songs are catchy and lovely. (which were rather refreshing)

Still, the character designs for MC being a fat old man is too bad... I'd honestly want the first season's. He, unfortunately, became an old dude in this sequel, than a muscly macho old man. (his charisma is gone)

The character design for Luna is rather bizarre now (she's more of a background character than one of the main heroines), and for the rest of the characters (seriously terrible).
Even though Yuu has better facial and body expressions in the first season, this sequel made her... ugh.

The VA's used are so subpar, that I feel like puking. (Are you guys even trying?)

I really missed the old Luna's voice. Even Aku is a bit better to watch. Tron on the other hand is... so bad, I'm crying.

80-90% of what people admired in the first season were thrown out just like that, huh.

I already read some reviews of this sequel with more or less the same findings. How cruel to be in sight of this mess.
CrazyButNot4UOct 31, 2024 1:53 AM
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

It's at least resuming where the first season left off, but the animation is different, feels more childish and I don't like it at all. Why can't people leave stuff alone, especially when it was perfectly fine?

Something tells me they only got the bare minimum budget for this show.

I mean the first season was also badly animated but this takes the cake. I think the only reason they even bothered with a s2 is cause we were promised one but it def feels like they did not put much effort which is a shame.

This was like a bad but b-movie classic fun to watch now its''' like why?

Where did the dragon on the back of Zero Kirisame’s flowing cape go? I really can’t stand this new art style! I understand they changed it to align more with the manga, but I had actually grown to like the first season’s look. Let’s be honest—it was a big improvement over what we’re seeing in this new season.

They’ve also changed the scene where Maou gives Angel White the halo. It’s just different, and I’m not sure if this direction is going to help or hurt the story, especially if they keep making these small adjustments to established lore.

Uh, I'm the only one where Kirino's design, Yuu is a little bit NO! xD But what have they done to this character? She was super stylish before and now!

In all seriousness, I'd really like someone to explain to me who's behind this kind of lame disaster that can be avoided because at most you don't even release a season, but by releasing this new season, you've just tarnished a series that was average and not bad. It went from average and not bad to "frankly, the animation is disgusting".

Another poorly scripted and animated knockoff episode that tarnishes the memory of the original. All of the scenes that retold portions of or reintroduced characters from the first season did so incredibly poorly. I envy the person I was watching this episode with. They had the good fortune of falling asleep part of the way through it.

If the first season were like a professional stage performance, this would be akin to a children's school drama club trying to perform the same play. The script was changed in ways that lessened the impact of scenes or damaged the characters established personalities. The art changes to characters and backgrounds were glaring in this newer version's inferiority. The only saving grace is that, with this episode, there is hopefully no old content left to rehash and ruin.
